A BIOS Trace Utility is provided with MicroMaster for use on boards that carry one of the family of Intel® Pentium® processors.
This utility allows BIOS code to be investigated and debugged. The main screen (shown below) includes a Disassembly, Memory Dump, and Register Status windows.
Code can be traced and logged to a file. It is possible to run to a specific POST code and then trace from that point. Breakpoints can be set. Registers can be modified. Traced code can be compared with a trace logged from another board to quickly locate any differences, as shown below.
Many other features are provided in the BIOS Trace Utility, which can be used both in board development and in analysing an existing board to help in the creation of test scripts.
